2016 HOKA ONE ONE Middle Distance Classic set for Friday, May 20

4/20/2016

INDIANAPOLIS -- The stage is set once again for the HOKA ONE ONE Middle Distance Classic, as USATF and HOKA ONE ONE team up to host USATF’s finest runners on Friday, May 20. Held at Jack Kemp Stadium on the campus of Occidental College in Los Angeles, general admission tickets are available at the gate for $10, beginning at 5 p.m. Students and USATF members can purchase tickets for $5.

The HOKA ONE ONE Middle Distance Classic will air live on USATF.TV beginning at 9:15 p.m. ET. An up-to-date list of entered athletes can be found on USATF.org.

The HOKA ONE ONE Middle Distance Classic annually brings together hundreds of the country’s top middle and long-distance runners, as well as international contenders, early in the competitive season, providing a domestic opportunity to post World Championship and Olympic-qualifying times. Held each May, the meet provides competitive opportunities for elite athletes at distances from 800 through 5,000 meters.

With HOKA ONE ONE coming on board as title sponsor in 2015, the meet was elevated to become part of the USATF Championship Series, USATF’s premier series of international-caliber meets in the United States and prize money was increased threefold. HOKA ONE ONE’s support of the meet also permits a television-quality webcast on USATF.TV with more than 150,000 viewers tuning in for the live webcast in 2015. Videos from the meet garnered over 1.2 million views on USATF.TV.

The meet has seen virtually every top American middle-distance runner compete in the last three years, including global medalists Matt Centrowitz, Kara Goucher, Leo Manzano, Brenda Martinez, Shannon Rowbury, Galen Rupp, Jenny Simpson, and Nick Symmonds, in addition to Olympians such as Molly Huddle and Emma Coburn and two-time World Championships team member Robby Andrews.
